RAMIPRIL+ HYDROCHLORTHIAZIDE

Indications & Dose:

To lower blood pressure in essential hypertension (a type of high blood pressure), when treatment with a combination preparation is indicated.

DOSAGE: The recommended initial dose is 2.5/ 12.5mg once a day. The usual dosage range is 2.5/12.5mg - 5/25mg in a single daily dose.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to ramipril, hydrochlorothiazide, history of angioneurotic oedema, severe impairment of renal function, Pregnancy and Lactation.

DRUGS 

When other antihypertensive agents or other medicines with blood-pressure-lowering potential (e.g. nitrates, tricyclic antidepressants, anaesthetics) are used concomitantly, potentiation of the antihypertensive effect is to be anticipated. Increased dietary salt intake and concurrent administration of (nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs), such as acetylsalicylic acid or indometacin, may weaken the antihypertensive effect. Vasopressor sympathomimetics (e.g. epinephrine, norepinephrine) may reduce the antihypertensive effect. Therefore, blood pressure should be monitored particularly closely. Corticosteroids,carbenoxolone, large amounts of liquiorice, prolonged use of laxatives, and kaliuretic agents may promote the development of hypokalemia
