Indications & Dose:
Hypertension, CHF (left ventricular dysfunction),* myocardial infarction,* diabetic nephropathy BY MOUTH Adult: 50mg once daily, may be increased to 100mg once daily.Elderly: Over 75 years initially 25mg once daily.Children: Not recommended.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to any of the component, Pregnancy & breast-feeding.
Side Effects:
CNS: Dizziness, insomnia CV: Orthostatic effects, syncope EENT: Nasal congestion, sinus disorder GI: Diarrhea, dyspepsia, elevated liver enzymes GU: Increased BUN, creatinine HEME: Decreased hct, purpura METAB: Hyperkalemia MS: Back pain, leg pain, muscle cramps, myalgia RESP: Cough MISC: Angioedema

Angioedema (associated with aspirin and/or penicillin allergy), aortic or mitral valve stenosis, biliary cirrhosis or biliary obstruction, breast feeding period, coronary artery disease, elderly patients, hepatic dysfunction (adjust dose),hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hypotension (sodium or volume depleted patients), pregnancy, renal artery stenosis, solitary kidney, or congestive heart failure
Interaction:
Drugs FIuconazole: Decreased conversion to active metabolite (CYP2C9 inhibition), loss of antihypertensive effects Lithium: Increased renal lithium reabsorption at the proximal tubular site due to the natriuresis associated with the inhibition of aldosterone secretion; increased risk of lithium toxicity Rifampin: Induced metabolism of losartan and metabolite, resulting in a decrease in the area under the concentration-time curve (AUC) and half-life of both compounds and reduced losartan efficacy
