DIMEMORFAN PHOSPHATE

Indications & Dose:

Symptomatic relief of cough.

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:

Inventive Syrup:

Adults 1-2 teaspoonful 3 times a day

Children: 7-14 years of age; 1 teaspoonful 3 times a day

Inventive Junior Drops

Children: 2-3 years of age; 15-20 drops 3 times a day. 3-6 years of age; 20-35 drops 3 times a day 

Contraindications:

Patients with hypersensitivity towards the drug. The use in asthmatic subjects is not suggested.

OVER DOSAGE: No cases of over dosage with Dimemorfan Phsophate are reported in literature, due to Dimemorfan Phosphate structural and pharmacological analogy with dextromethorphane, the use of Naloxone which proved effective in one episode of casual poisoning with dextreomethorphane reported in literature, is suggested. 

Side Effects:

 Rare undesired effects such as thirst, dryness of mouth, nausea, anorexia, dizziness and somnolence have been reported.

In infants up to two years of age the use of the drug is only recommended in case of need and under medical attention.

Interaction:

No drug interactions with analgeic or other drugs are so far reported. However, the drug shows incompatibility when used in syrup/ drops from alongwith alkaline solutions and solutions containing Penicillin, Sodium Phenobarbital and Sodium Salicylates. Therefore, caution should be taken while using such drugs.
