DONEPEZIL HYDROCHLORIDE

Indications & Dose:

Mild to moderate dementia in Alzheimer’s disease



Adult: Initially 5 mg once daily for one month, then increased if necessary up to 10 mg daily, doses to be given at bedtime

Contraindications:

Side Effects:

CNS: Abnormal dreams, depression, dizziness, fatigue, headache, insomnia, somnolence


CV: Syncope


CI: Anorexia, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting


GU: Frequent urination


HEME: Ecchymosis


METAB:  Weight decrease


MS: Arthritis, muscle cramps

Precautions:

Sick sinus syndrome or other supraventricular cardiac conduction conditions, history of peptic ulcer disease, bladder outflow obstruction, seizure disorder, asthmal COPD

Fluvoxamine: Possible increase in fluvoxamine levels
