(PENICILLIN V)

Indications & Dose:

Tonsillitis, otitis media erysipelas; rheumatic fever and pneumo-coccal infection.

DOSE

Adults 500mg every 6 hours increased to 1gm every 6 hours in severe infections.

Children Every 6 hours, up to 1 year 62.5mg, every 6 hour, increased upto 12.5mg/kg every 6 hour in severe infection, 1-6 years 125mg, every 6 hour, increased upto 12.5mg/kg every 6 hour in severe infection, 6-12 years 250mg every 6 hour, increased upto 12.5mg/kg every 6 hour in severe infectio1n, 

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity. 

Side Effects:

Urticaria, fever, joint pain, rashes, angio-oedema, anaphylaxis, haemolytic anaemia, interstitial nephritis, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, coagulation dis-orders, diarrhoea
