Indications & Dose:
Infections of the respiratory tract, skin and skin structure, bones and joints
DOSE
Adult
• PO 250-500 mg q6h Inj: IM 250mg every 6 hour IV inf: 500mg every 6 hour ( in severe infection up to 8 gm daily in divided doses.
Child
• PO 50-100 mg/kg/day in divided doses q6h, max 4 g/day. Inj: up to 2 years 1/4 of adult doses, 2-10 years 1/ 2 of the adult dose. accordiing body weight 25-50mg/kg /day in divided doses.

CNS: Anxiety, depression, fever, hallucinations, headache, twitching
GI: Abdominal pain, colitis, diarrhea; glossitis, increased AST, ALT; nausea, vomiting
GU: Hematuria, vaginitis
HEMS: Bone marrow depression, eosinophilia, increased bleeding time
SKIN: Rash, urticaria
