MEGLUMINE ANTIMONIATE

Indications & Dose:

Visceral Leishmaniasis (Kala azar) or Cutaneous Leishmaniasis except resistant Leishmania aethiopica.

• BY INJECTION

Visceral Leishmaniosis: IM inj. 20mg / kg / day for at least 20 days, Cutaneous Leishmaniasis: Local treatment: Inj of 1 to 3 ml at the base of the lesion, repeated once or twice at 1 or 2 days intervals. Systemic treatment: IM inj. 10 to 20mg / kg / day for 4 weeks or several months.

UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS: Chills, sensation of faintness with sweating, cough, vomiting, headache, general malaise, difficult and uneasy breathing, skin rash, facial oedema, abdominal pain, impaired liver and kidney function.
