Indications & Dose:
Hairy cell leukemia (in splenectomised and nonsplenectomised) and AIDS related Kaposi’s sarcoma in patients above 18 years. DOSE Adults Hairy cell leukemia Induction: 3 million i.u. daily for 16-24 weeks s/c or i/m. Maint. 3 million i.u. 3 times per week. Treat for approx. 6 months. Kaposi’s sarcoma: 36 million i.u. daily for 10-12 weeks i/m s/c. Maint. 36 million i.u. 3 times/wk. Children Not recommended.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to alpha interferon or any of the component.
Side Effects:
GI haemorrhage, decreased mental status, leukopenia and elevation of liver enzymes.

Precautions:
Administer with caution to patient with cardiac disease. Depression and suicidal behaviour.
Pregnancy: Use with caution.
Breastfeeding: Discontinue nursing or the drug.
Old age: May be given in reduced dose.
