Paget’s Disease:



35 mg dailyx2 months


• Post menopausal Osteoporosis (prophylaxis):


• BY MOUTH


PO 35 mg once weekely on the same day of each week


• Post menopausal women on systemic corticosteroids therapy:


• BY MOUTH


5mg tab daily


Child: Not recommended

Contraindications:

Hypocalcemia

Side Effects:

CV: Chest pain 
EENT: Iritis, dry eyes 
GI: Diarrhea (20%); epigastric pain (rarely) 
MS: Arthralgia, myasthenia 

Cautions:

Precautions:

Renal impairment, congestive heart failure, hyperphosphatemia (potential for increased tubular reabsorption of phosphate), liver disease, fever 

Interaction:

Drugs


Antacids, calcium: decreased absorption of risedronate


Food: decreases bioavailability of risedronate by 50%
