Indications & Dose:

1. To provide temporary relief from cerebral oedema, hypoglycaemic coma, circulatory collapse. 2. Conditions when higher amount of parenteral nutrition is required. 3. As an osmotic diuretic. 4. To supply higher amount of water. 5. As fluid and nutrient replenisher.
DOSE i.v 1500-3000ml/day. For short term maintenance therapy. 1500-2000ml/day over 8-12 hours. To minimise ketosis and prevent tissue catabolism. Rate: Maximum infusion rate should not exceed 0.85gm of Dextrose/kg body wt. per hour.
