Pizotifin + Vitam B Complex

Indications & Dose:

Anorexia in underweight patients, mood elevation in the elderly, prophylactic (interval) treatment of migraine.
Children:
2-6 years, 0.25-0.5 mg of pizotifen daily; 6-12 years, 0.5-1 mg of pizotifen daily in 2 or 3 divided doses. Average maintenance doses, 0.025 mg (of pizotifen)/kg body-wt daily.
Adults: Starting with 0.5 mg (of pizotifen) per day, may be increased to 0.5 mg (of pizotifen) 3 times a day.
Migraine prophylaxis:
Adults: Starting with 0.5 mg of pizotifen daily, should be increased progressively, average maintenance dose 1.5 mg of pizotifen daily in a single or in divided doses. In refractory cases the dosage may be increased to 3-4.5 mg of pizotifen daily, taken in 3 divided doses.

Precautions:

Patients should be warned of its possible sedative effects. Pregnancy, Nursing mothers. Due to slight anticholinergic effect of pizotifen caution in patients with narrow angle glaucoma or urinary retention. 

Interaction:

Sedatives, hypnotics, antihistamines including certain common cold preps, alcohol.
