Eperisone HCL

Indications & Dose:

Improvement of myotonic conditions caused by Neck-shoulder-arm syndrome, scapulohumeral periarthritis and low back pain. Spastic paralysis caused by cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal paralysis, cervical spondylosis, sequela of surgical trauma (including cerebrospinal tumor), sequela of trauma (spinal injury and head injury), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, infantile cerebral palsy, spinocerebellar degeneration, spinal vascular disorders, subacute myelooptico neuropathy (SMON) and other encephalmyelopathies.

• BY MOUTH

The usual adult dosage for oral use in 3 tablets (150 mg of Eperisone hydrochloride) daily in three divided doses after meals. The dosage may be adjusted depending on the patient’s age and symptoms.

Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any ingredients of the drug.

Eperisone hydrochloride should be administered with care in: a. Patients with a history of drug hypersensitivity. b. Patients with hepatic function disorder. Important precautions: In the event of weakness, light headedness, sleepiness; the dosage should be reduced or treatment discontinued. Patients should be cautioned against engaging in potentially hazardous activities requiring alertness, such as operating machinery or driving a car.

Lactations:

Safety for use in pregnancy has not been established. Eperisone hydrochloride should only be used in pregnant women or suspected of being pregnant, if therapeutic benefits are evaluated to outweigh the possible risk of treatment. It is recommended that this drug should not be used during lactation. If it must be used at such times, the patients should discontinue breast-feeding during treatment.

Side Effects Or Adverse Reactions:

Shock, anaphylactoid reaction, Oculo-mucocutaneous syndrome (stevaens- Johnson syndrome) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell syndrome) may occur. In rare cases hepatic, renal or gastric disturbance may also observe.
