Indications & Dose:
Prevention of development of AntiD antibodies in Rh negative mothers after child birth, abortion beyond 13 weeks gestation, antepartum prophylaxis at 26-28 weeks gestation. i/v application should be administered not later than 48 hours post partum and i/m application not later than 72 hours post-partum.
DOSE
Adults
Antepartum Prophylaxis Adult: IM 1 vial at approximately 28 wk; followed by 1 vial within 72 h of delivery if infant is Rh-positive.
Postpartum Prophylaxis
Adult: IM 1 vial within 72 h of delivery if infant is Rhpositive.
Following Amniocentesis, Miscarriage, Abortion,
Ectopic Pregnancy
Adult: IM 1 vial of the microdose, preferably within 3 h but at least within 72 h.
Transfusion Accident
Adult: IM 1 vial for each volume of RBCs infused divided by 15, given within at least 72 h of accident.
Children Not recommended.
Contraindications:
CONTRAINDICATION & PRECAUTIONS CONTRAINDICATED IN:
Rho (D)-positive or Dupositive patient; person previously immunized against Rho (D) factor, hypersensitivity for thimerosal (in commercial preparations), thrombocytopenia, or bleeding disorders.

Drugs
May interfere with immune response to live virus vaccine; should delay use of live virus vaccine for 3 mo after administration of Rho (D) immune globulin. and typing. Confirm that mother is Rho (D) and Dunegative. Infant must be Rh-positive.
