Indications & Dose:

Female: Anovulatory infertility. Super ovula-tion for IVF.


Male: Used with HCG in to stimulate sper-matogenesis in those with primary hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.


DOSAGE:


Female for Induction of ovulatlon: Adults: 1 amp daily for 9-12 days followed by 10,000 units HCG one day after the last dose; repeated at least twice at same level before increasing dosage to 2 ampoules. See literature.


Male for spermatogenesls: Adults: Following pretreatment with HCG, 1 amp 3 times/week and HCG 2000 units twice weekly until sperm is detected in the ejaculate (4-6 months) then may be increased to 2 amp 3 times/week. See literature.


Children: Not applicable.


Administration: IM or SC (ONLY as per manufacturers instruction) administration. The lower abdomen (alternating sides) should be used for subcutaneous administration.

Contraindications:

Female: Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, tumours of the uterus, ovaries, breasts. Male: Tumours of testes or prostate

Treat endocrine disorders or intracranial lesions before therapy. Monitor oestrogen levels and fol-licular development regularly. In men exclude other causes of infertility prior to treatment

Interaction:

 Clomiphene, other drugs that stimulate ovulation

Adverse Effects:

Ovarian hyperstimulation, enlargement and rupture. Multiple pregnancy. Allergic reactions.
Pregnancy: Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Lactation: Contraindicated or not recommended
