Indications & Dose:

INDICATIONS:

Maintenance treatment of patients who are unable to produce sufficient amounts of IgG antibodies especially in patients who require an immediate increase in intravascular immunoglobulin levels, in patients with small muscle mass and in patients with bleeding tendencies in whom i/m inj. are

DOSE:

Usually for prophylaxix in immunimerosal individuals with isolated immunoglobulin A(IgA) deficiency 

Contraindications:

CONTRAINDICATED:

It may be used in disease states such as congenital agammaglobulinaemia (e.g.x-linked a gamma globulinaemia), common variable hypo-gammaglobulinaemia, x-linked immuno-deficiency with hyper 1g M and combined immune deficiency.  For  prophylaxis mitigation   of virus diseases measles, hepatitis, chickenpox, mumps, poliomyelitis & for treatment of antibody deficiency. 

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

Pregnancy. Blood transfusion or immunoglobulin injection within previous three months; concurrent therapy with ACTH or corticosteriods (except as replacement therapy), irradiation, alkylating agents or antimetabolites; blood dyscrasias, leukemia, malignant neoplasms  affecting the bone marrow or lymphatic system,  primary immuno-deficiency states; acute febrile infections.

Malaise, chills , fever and rarely anaphylaxis.

CAUTIONS:

Normal immunoglobulins may  interfere with the immune response to live virus vaccines which should therefore only be given at least 3 weeks before or 3 months after an injection of normal immunoglobulin (this dose not apply to yellow fever vaccine since normal immunoglobulin does not contain antibody to this virus).  For travellers, if there is insufficient time, the recommended interval may have to be ignored anaphylactoid reaction.
