Indications & Dose:

The acute pain of ureteric colic may be relieved with pethidine.


Diclofenac by injection or a suppositories is also effective and compares favourably with pethidine. Other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are occasionally given by injection.


Lidocaine (lignocaine) gel is a useful topical application in urethral pain or to relieve the discomfort of catheterisation.
