Timolol Maleate

Indications & Dose:

Chronic open angle glaucoma, aphakic glaucoma, secondary glaucoma & lowering of intraocular pressure.  .


DOSE


Adults : 1 drop of 0.25% soln. in the affected eye(s) twice daily. If the response is inadequate 0.5% soln. may be used in the same manner.


Children : Not recommended.

Contraindications:

Asthma, history of obstructive pulmonary disease. Sinus bradycardia, 2nd or 3rd degree AV block, uncompensated cardiac failure. Soft lenses, hypersensitivity,

Side Effects:

Systemic beta-blocker effects, mild irritation, transient burning sensation, visual disturbances, cardiovascular and respiratory effects.

Precautions:

To withdraw gradually. Systemic absorption may occur. Closed angle glaucoma.


Pregnancy: Safety not established.


Breast-feeding: May be used.


Old age: May be used.
