| Introduction | Glomerulonephritis literally includes all the inflammatory diseases of the glomerulus, but, there are a few of other types of glomerular disease (glomerulopathy) which are also considered under this terminology even there is no evidence of inflammation. However, glomerulonephritis is mostly an immunologically mediated disease, in which the inflammatory process primarily involves the major components of the glomerulus, but at times the renal vasculature, interstitium, and tubular epitheium may also be affected. |

| Classification | Classification:12 Different glomerulonephritis diseases can be classified into three syndromes: 1. Nephritic syndrome 2. Nephrotic syndrome, and 3. Asymptomatic renal disease. Though this classification differentiates various glomerulonephritis, but some can present with varying components and characters common to all. |
