| Management | Management: 1. Gamma benzene hexachloride (1%) is the treatment of choice. Apply thoroughly over the scalp & wash after 24 hours. Or, 2. Malathion 0.5% lotion may be applied also. Or 3. 2% DDT emulsion. Or, 4. 25% soln. of benzyl benzoate. 5. Contacts should be treated simulataneously. 6. Hairs should be combed with a fine Comb. |
| Introduction | The human body is infested with three types of lice, e.g. P. Capitis, P. Corporis, & P. Pubis. Pediculosis capitis is more common. |

| Clinical Features | Clinical features: 1. The female Pediculus capitis lay eggs which are attached to scalp hairs & called nit. 2. Itching on the occipital side of the scalp. 3. Secondary infection may lead to impetigo & post auricular lymph nodes may be enlarged and tender. 4. Females having tall hairs, & unhygienic are commonly affected. |
