| Management | Management: 1. Avoid gastric aspiration or use of emetics or induction of vomiting as this may help to produce broncho-pneumonia. 2. Allow fresh air. 3. Delay absorption by giving 250 c.c of liquid paraffin orally. 4. Antibiotics e.g. penicillin to prevent infection and pneumonitis. 5. Tab. Prednisolone 2-10 mg. orally 6 hourly if there is suspicion of chemical pneumonitis. 6. Steroids 1mg/kg. 6. Oxygen inhalation in severe respiratory distress. Complications: 1. Aspiration pneumonia 2. C.N.S depression |

| Etiology | |
| Clinical Features | Clinical features: Smell of kerosene is present in vomitus, urine and breath. Burning pain in throat. Colicky pain & diarrhoea are present. Respiratory rate is high, features of pneumonitis are present. There may be muscular in coordination, weak and irregular pulse, twitching and convulsions. The patient may be cyanosed and there are coarse rales due to bronchopneumonia or pulmonary oedema. |
