| Introduction | Dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB) is an irregular or excessive intermenstrual bleeding (interval between the onset of bleeding episodes <21 days). It includes all forms of abnormal and excessive uterine bleeding for which no orgainc cause in the pelvis can be found. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is usually caused by over growth of endometrium due to estrogen stimulation without adequate progesterone to stabilize growth; this occurs in an ovular cycles. Anovulation commonly occurs in teenagers, in women aged late 30s to late 40s, and in extremely obese women or those with polycystic overy syndrome. |
