| Introduction | Hypospadias is the commonest congenital malformation of the urethra. The external meatus is situated at some point on the under surface of the penis or in the perineum. |

| Treatment | Treatment: In glandular hypospadias, the most frequent variety, no treatment is required usually. If the opening is too small, meatotomy is performed. In other varieties, a plastic operation should be carried out. ‘Denis Browne’ operation is usually done. |

| Classification | Classification: A. Glandular hypospadias- opening is on the under surface of the gland. B. Coronal hypospadias- the meatus when situated at the junction of under surface of the gland with the body of the penis. C. Penile hypospadias- when the meatus is situated at some part of the under surface of the penis. D. Peno-scrotal hypospadias- the meatus opens at the junction of the penis and scrotum. E. Perineal hypospadias- the scrotum is split and the urethra opens between its two halves. |
