Indications & Dose:

Management of Hypertension.



Adults: One tab daily. Dosage requirement may be reduced in the elderly and in renal failure.
Children: Not recommended.

Contraindications:

Second or third degree heart block, cardiogenic shock

Cautions:

Precautions:

Poor cardiac reserve. Avoid in overt heart failure. Anaesthesia. Chronic obstructive airways disease or asthma. Withdrawal of betablocking drugs should be gradual in patients with ischaemic heart disease. Withdrawal of clonidine. Pregnancy and lactation. Renal impairment. Sensitivity to chlorthalidone. Diuretics may cause hyperuricaemia. Diabetes, If symptoms attributable to slow heart rate, reduce dose. Measure potassium levels

Interaction:

Verapamil, lithium, digitalis, or Class 1 antidysrhythmic agents

Warnings:

Adverse Effects:

Cold extremities, muscular fatigue, bradycardia. Sleep disturbance rarely seen. Rashes and dry eyes have been reported with beta-blockers-consider discontinuance if they occur. Nausea, dizziness, rarely idiosyncratic reactions such as thrombocytopenia and leucopenia
