Test: Lesion smear and/or biopsy microscopy (fuso- spirochaetal forms seen), WCC (H)

Sign:

Dd: Diphtheria, streptococcal or staphylococcal infec- tion, malignant neutropenia, herpangina

Phys: Ulceration of the mouth and lips due to either Fusobacterium and/or Borrelia vincentii. Usually secondary to poor hygiene or malnutrition
