Phys:

Caused by delta agent. Parenteral transmission to a patient who already suffers from hepatitis B. Usually associated with IV drug use. Often se­vere, and may be associated with fulminant su­perinfection. Aggravation of hepatitis B chronicity common. Probably increases risk of malignancy. No specific vaccine once hepatitis B al­ready contracted, but may be prevented by vacci­nation before initial hepatitis B infection
